Carrick: Come On Forget in 2008

Manchester United passed in 2008 with the gold note took the form of three titles of the champion. However Michael Carrick refused to keep the achievement in mind danmeminta his colleagues did more. This 2008, MU to that was best in three different sites. The champion Premier League and the Champions League 2007-08 as well as the title jawara the Cup of the Antarklub World increased the collection in the cup cupboard of troops of Sir Alex Ferguson. In 2008 very extraordinary. Was successful memancang and gained all that was wanted by us -- defeated three big championships -- really special. Something that was appropriate to be remembered, said Carrick to MUTV as being quoted the official site of the club. "However as the player, we could keep all the achievements during us in mind already the pension." So when we have gained all of them. Now, we must try to gain more. I hoped, 2009 will be again better, said your middle player. You closed in 2008 by occupying the position of the three temporary classifications. Transfer Rumors

As we say goodbye to 2008 and ring in 2009, we’ve got the latest for you in transfer news and rumors. The opening of the winter transfer window could bring a flurry of activity over the next few days, so many people could have something to celebrate besides the new year.

22:38 - Here’s a bit of managerial transfer gossip from the Daily Mirror. Apparently Arsene Wenger has a 25m offer on the table from Real Madrid to take over at the end of the season.

Analysis: Wenger has had a pretty cushy situation at Arsenal in his time there, but with the trophy cabinet being empty over the last few seasons, he could feel like it’s time for him to make a change for the benefit of the club and for himself, even if he does have a few seasons remaining on his contract.

22:27 - According to the Daily Mail, Nicky Shorey could be looking to leave Aston Villa after only half of a season after quickly falling out of favor with Martin O’Neill.

Analysis: After being a regular in O’Neill’s starting lineup through much of the first half of the season, Shorey’s made only one appearance in Villa’s last seven league matches, and if he harbors any hopes of making a dent in the England national team anytime soon, he’s going to either have to get it going or get going. If he does leave, there’s a chance that Tottenham could pursue him as cover at left back.

22:20 - Tottenham were one of the biggest spenders of the summer, and that could be the case again in January. However, they might have to spend a little more than want to if they’re to get the likes of Stewart Downing and Jermain Defoe.

Analysis: Is it time to put the Downing speculation to bed yet? You’d think that even Gareth Southgate has his price, but maybe it’s far, far above what anyone would pay for Downing right now. As for Defoe, £15m may be a reasonable fee, but £20m is asking a little too much. There could be a fight with Liverpool for Johnson…which is all the better in the end for Portsmouth’s coffers. It could end up being an either/or deal with Defoe and Crouch, because I certainly don’t see both being allowed to leave for Tottenham or anywhere else at the same time.

20:15 - Liverpool could soon make a £9m offer for Portsmouth defender Glen Johnson, and their hopes could be helped by Portsmouth’s willingness to sell at the right price. Portsmouth are trying to avoid selling off too many of their valuable assets, but the right offer, as was the case with Lassana Diarra, can get them to sell.

Analysis: I don’t think £9m is quite the exceptional offer that Pompey might be looking for, but if it includes one of Liverpool’s surplus defenders, then it could be enough.

19:34 - Here’s a blast from the past. According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham could make a loan move for former Liverpool winger Luis Garcia, who is now sitting on the bench at Atletico Madrid and being shopped around to Spurs, Blackburn, Portsmouth, and Middlesbrough.

Analysis: Garcia’s Premier League experience could make him an attractive option if Spurs can’t get Stewart Downing. Oh, and it’s still a goal.

19:09 - Could Michael Owen be moving to Inter Milan? Jose Mourinho can’t get Didier Drogba right now, so Owen may be one of his backup options.

Analysis: The deal could be an enticing one for Newcastle, considering that they’d get a solid scorer in David Suazo. However, there doesn’t stand to be a lot of benefit (outside of financial) for Owen past this season, if he’s looking to be a regular starter somewhere.

18:20 - In quite a few cases, one transfer can affect several more, and there are a couple of cases of that today. Arsenal could be in for Manchester City target Pape Diakhate, but because William Gallas and Kolo Toure being unable to get along, Toure could be on his way to Manchester City, freeing up Diakhate for the Gunners.

Over in the northwest, Wigan may try to squeeze an extra few million out of Real Madrid for Antonio Valencia, and if those demands are too high, then Real could go back in for Jermaine Pennant. But if Real and Wigan can thrash out a deal, then Pennant could replace Valencia at Wigan. Crazy, right?

Analysis: Drama can’t stay too far from Arsenal’s backline, eh? The only complication could be the fact that Diakhate has played in the Champions League already, and that could affect Arsenal’s plans with he and other players (like Andrei Arshavin or Mikel Arteta).

Pennant would get a lot more regular first-team football at Wigan than at Real, so that move could suit him. And he wouldn’t force Wigan to spend too much of that cash they’ll receive from the Valencia sale, which makes him an even better option.

18:00 - So, Roque Santa Cruz could be set to move to Manchester City in an £18m move. And Wayne Bridge may follow him in an £8m move, if Chelsea are nice and allow him the chance to get regular starts elsewhere.

Analysis: You do have to question the fee, considering Santa Cruz’s slow start to the season, but he is the best available option there is for City, and amazingly, he’ll cost less than Jermain Defoe.

In regards to Bridge, Chelsea have been reluctant to sell him all this time, even though he hasn’t been a regular starter for the majority of his time at Stamford Bridge. So, I’m not so sure they’d let him go now, because he’s still one of the top defenders in England.

Spurs open Bellamy talks

Sky Sports News understands Tottenham Hotspur are in talks with West Ham United over a deal for Craig Bellamy.

The financial uncertainty at Upton Park has led to speculation that Hammers boss Gianfranco Zola may be forced into selling his best players.

Zola outlined his determination to keep his leading figures earlier this week and admitted he would be 'very annoyed' if he did lose any members of his squad.

Bellamy has also spoken of his happiness at West Ham recently after he was linked with a return to Celtic where he previously spent a spell on loan.

However, he admitted he was unsure if the Hammers would accept any bids, and Sky Sports News understands that Spurs are now trying to test their London rivals' resolve.

Negotiations between the two clubs are understood to have started, with West Ham keen to recoup almost double the £7.5million they paid for Bellamy 18 months ago.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has admitted he is hoping to improve his squad in the New Year, but insists he will not pay 'crazy prices' for new players.

Redknapp is short of attacking options at White Hart Lane, with Darren Bent, Roman Pavlyuchenko and the on-loan Fraizer Campbell the only recognised strikers available.

Bellamy has returned to fitness with West Ham this season and has scored twice in the Premier League, including in the recent 1-1 draw at title-chasing Chelsea.

Ronaldinho's house robbed, but trophy remains

Thieves steal thousands of dollars of goods except for Golden Ball award

MILAN, Italy - Thieves broke into soccer star Ronaldinho's house and made off with thousands of dollars worth of goods but left behind the AC Milan midfielder's Golden Ball trophy, Italian media reports said Wednesday.

Ronaldinho was in his native Brazil when the burglary took place early Tuesday morning, Corriere della Sera reported. Four thieves stole mainly jewelry and watches, Corriere reported.

Ronaldinho, who won the Golden Ball award as the best player in Europe in 2005, is in his first season with Milan. He recently moved into the house, which has been broken into twice before while previous owners lived there, including former Milan player Riccardo Sogliano.

Ronaldo's fiancee gives birth to a girl

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil (AP) -- Ronaldo's fiancee, Maria Beatriz Antony, on Wednesday gave birth to the striker's second child, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Antony gave birth to Maria Sofia in Rio de Janeiro's Clinica Perinatal, hospital spokeswoman Ana Maria Funky said by telephone, adding the baby was born weighing 2.98 kilograms (6.57 pounds).

She said Ronaldo was present when his daughter was born and cut the umbilical cord.

Funky said both mother and daughter were in perfect health and should leave the hospital no later than Friday.

Ronaldo, who is recovering from knee surgery and recently signed with Brazilian club Corinthians, already has an 8-year-old boy, Ronald, from a previous relationship.

The three-time FIFA player of the year hasn't played since injuring his knee in February while representing AC Milan in the Serie A.

Ronaldo led Brazil to the 2002 World Cup title in South Korea and Japan, scoring twice in the final against Germany.

Dream Real move suits Diarra

Midfielder Lassana Diarra is determined to make a success of his big-money move from Portsmouth to Real Madrid.

The 23-year-old France international has moved to the Bernabeu in a deal worth in the region of 20million euros, having signed a four-and-a-half-year contract after successfully passing a medical.

Diarra had previously failed to make an impact at both Chelsea and Arsenal, but insists he is ready to be a hit in the Spanish capital.

He said after sealing his switch: "For four or five years I have been at great clubs, such as Arsenal and Chelsea, as well as the French national team, and I'm ready to play for Real Madrid.

"I have a lot of desire to do well and I'm looking forward to defending the Real Madrid colours.

"It's a dream to be here and I'm very happy. I hope everything goes as well as possible for me here in Madrid.

"I feel capable, I have the abilities and I think Real Madrid is what I needed. I definitely need to adapt to the Spanish game and the language, and I'll need to do it quickly.

"I've played with big clubs, got good experience with the French national team and I still want to improve.

"I want to adapt quickly and show everyone that I can play here. I think it will go well."

Dec 3 2008 Gallas to AC Milan, Villa Want Heskey or Santa Cruz, Why Bastian Schweinsteiger Turned Down Juventus, and more!

Today’s Transfer Rumor Roundup focuses on two Premiership clubs that promise to spend big, as well as a third that could join them. We’ll also take a look at one player who went from franchise cornerstone to someone who could leave in January, as well as Tottenham’s continued quest for a new goalkeeper. Finally, we’ll reveal why one player turned down a move to Juventus, and it has nothing to do with money!

AC Milan Back in for Gallas?

After ruling out a transfer for the former Arsenal skipper, AC Milan have done a 180 and are interested in acquiring William Gallas to shore up their defense. His price is thought to be £6 million or so.

Analysis: Gallas needs a change of scenery, and Tottenham might not be far enough for him. Ronaldinho, Kaka, Inzaghi, Sheva, Beckham, Pirlo, Gattuso, and now Gallas. Those are a lot of big egos for one club.

More Names on Spurs’ Keeper List

Spurs are interested in Chelsea’s Carlo Cudicini and Reading’s Marcus Hahnemann as possible solutions to their goalkeeping woes.

Analysis: Cudicini was once one of the top goalkeepers in the Premiership, and I’m surprised he’s stayed at Chelsea for as long as he has. We’ll see if he jumps at the chance to be a starter again. As for Hahnemann, he played well last year despite seeing his team go down to the Championship. Still, at 36, he probably isn’t the long-term answer.

Aston Villa Get £18 Million To Spend

Aston Villa owner, Randy Lerner, has pledged £18 million so that the club can sign a striker. Wigan’s Emile Heskey and Blackburn’s Roque Santa Cruz have been identified as the club’s top targets, although Henrik Larsson is a possibility.

Analysis: This could be Villa’s year to break into the top 4, so they have to go for it. John Carew’s been hurt, so they definitely need another proven striker to play alongside Gabriel Agbonlahor. Heskey has always been more of a facilitator rather than a scorer, so he could make Agbonlahor, Barry, Sidwell, and Milner better, but he won’t contribute goals himself. Santa Cruz seems to want to go to Manchester City, but he’d probably have a better situation at Villa, where there’s less competition and there’s the possibility of Champions League football next season.

Capel to Spurs or City?

Tottenham and Manchester City have been linked with Sevilla left-winger Diego Capel, who has indicated that he would consider a move away from his club. His price-tag looks to be about £12.6 million.

Analysis: Once again, it’s Spurs and City as the two clubs have seemingly decided to start printing their own money. He’d be a good addition to both clubs, particularly City, who have been unsettled on the left.

Schweinsteiger’s Girlfriend to Determine Destination?

Juventus President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli has blamed Bastian Schweinsteiger’s girlfriend, Sarah Brandner, for vetoing a move to Turin.

Black Cats confirm Keane exit

Premier League strugglers Sunderland have confirmed that manager Roy Keane has left the club.

Keane's future at the Stadium of Light had been under increasing scrutiny in recent days following the team's slump in form.

He has been holding talks with chairman Niall Quinn and the rest of the board over the past couple of days and the discussions have resulted in the manager's departure.

The former Republic of Ireland international took charge in August 2006 and he made an immediate impact as he guided Sunderland to the Championship title the following May.

Last season the club consolidated their place in the top flight and Keane's task this term was to make an assault on the top half of the table.

With that in mind, Sunderland backed Keane by spending nearly £30million on new players with the likes of Djibril Cisse, Pascal Chimbonda, Anton Ferdinand, El-Hadji Diouf and George McCartney all coming in.

However, despite a morale-boosting Wear-Tyne victory over rivals Newcastle - their first since 1980 - Sunderland's form and place in the league has plummeted.

Just two wins in ten league games has put them in the bottom three, and speculation has been rife in the North East over the last month that Keane was ready to walk away from the club.

He admitted last weekend after a 4-1 home defeat by Bolton Wanderers that he was questioning whether he was the right man to lead the Black Cats forward.

Former Sunderland defender, and ex-Newcastle United boss, Sam Allardyce has been installed as the early favourite to replace Keane.
